Athboy Celtic 3-1 Trim Celtic

There's more silverware for the clubhouse this month, after our Under 10s claimed the Colm Cooper Cup with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Trim Celtic at the MDL Grounds in Navan.

Well done lads!

It was a hard-earned victory with Athboy working tirelessly to ensure they came out on top to win the cup.

Their opponents started off the better of the two sides, and might have been ahead only for the brilliance of Liam Flood in goal, pulling off some superb saves to keep Trim Celtic at bay.

Midway through the first half Athboy took control of the game, and the deadlock was soon broken thanks to a cracking strike from Rhys Shaw.

Michael McDonagh doubled the lead with a composed finish before half time. Athboy stretched their lead further when Rhys netted his second with another composed finish in the bottom corner.

From then on Athboy worked extremely hard all over the pitch to see out the win. Trim grabbed a consolation of their own from a free-kick with 10 minutes to go, but Athboy stood firm to ensure their opponents didn't score again.

Plenty of excitement at the final whistle and a well deserved win for this talented young squad.

The game was played in great spirits and congrats to coaches Jimmy, Adam, Louise and Jamie.
